Volunteers at the Community Cancer Center truly make a difference by providing assistance to our patients and their caregivers. In 2017, volunteers donated over 9,500 hours of service to the Center. Our volunteers share their talents by greeting, transporting, serving refreshments, entertaining, and anticipating needs of our patients and their families. Our Volunteers share their fundraising, aesthetic talents as well as manpower to make sure our interior and exterior spaces are nurturing and promote healing. Countless volunteer hours are spent assisting in clerical duties and replenishing supplies in order to support our medical staff so they can provide excellent service for their patients. Volunteers are an integral part of our support team.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the Community Cancer Center, please submit a volunteer application or email Lea Powell, our Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (309) 451-2220.
Our Front Desk Volunteers provide a welcoming face to new and returning patients. In addition to answering questions, they serve as an escort to physician offices and staff locations. Volunteers maintain our waiting areas and coffee stations, as well as serving refreshments to our infusion patients.
Many volunteers are working behind the scenes in our administrative offices. Typing, filing, answering phones, restocking and various other support services are essential in helping the Center provide excellent service to our patients.
Piano / Music
Some volunteers choose to share their musical talents. Many sign up for hourly shifts to provide soothing entertainment for our patients, their families and employees.
Those with retail experience might decide to volunteer in our gift shop.
Healing Garden & Grounds
For those with a “green thumb” maybe volunteering in our gardens might be appealing. In the past couple of years, our Healing Garden Volunteers planned, fundraised, and installed our patio garden. Additionally they have helped to create a meditation Labyrinth, a pergola with swings, and a butterfly garden, which is visible from the infusion area. They continue to work on various other projects around our 4 acre site.
